Double O-T thriller sends UNI to NCAA Tourney

UNI is headed back to the NCAA mens’ basketball tournament. The Panthers got 26-points from Ben Jacobsen to edge Southwest Missouri State 79-74 and win the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.It marked the first time the Valley Tournament Championship game went to double overtime.UNI blew a 14-point second half lead in regulation to let S-M-S back into the ballgame. It’s the second trip to the NCAA tournament since UNI became a division I program. The last trip came under coach Eldon Miller in 1990, the year after current coach Greg McDermott graduated from UNI. McDermott is in his third year as the Panther’s coach.
