Ben Jacobsen’s game tying three point attempt was off the mark in the waning seconds as U-N-I’s rally came up short in a 65-60 loss to Georgia Tech in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Milwaukee.Coach Greg McDermott said on his postgame show on the UNI Sports Radio Network that they had a few opportunities, but the ball didn’t go in. McDermott says they put themselves into a position to win the game and it just wasn’t meant to be. The Panthers trailed by 12 at the half but came roaring back in the second half. He says it was a great effort to execute the plan, but he says Georgia Tech has some great athletes. UNI ends the season 21-10 and McDermott wishes it did not have to end, as he says it’s been “an unbelievable ride”.
