Routine stops turn into drug busts in Monona County

March 22, 2004 By admin

Deputies in Monona County says they seized cash and illegal drugs after two recent routine traffic stops. A deputy stopped a vehicle early last Thursday driven by Valentin Mendosa of Washington State for speeding. The deputy found nine ounces of cocaine and more than 11-thousand dollars in cash in the care. Mendosa and two juveniles were arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and failure to have a drug tax stamp. Another deputy stopped a car Saturday for a routine violation and arrested two people from Mexico after a drug dog found 13 pounds of marijuana. The two were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and failure to have drug tax stamp.
