Strawberry Point man who fled police apparently died of exposure

April 1, 2004 By admin

A 32-year-old Strawberry Point man found dead in a farm field apparently died of natural causes while trying to evade police. The body of Shane Ross was found in a cornfield March 11th, a week after he fled deputies who were trying to arrest him after he allegedly stole his brother’s pickup. A landowner found Ross’ body just over a mile from where he abandoned the pickup and fled on foot. Deputies had searched the area after the pickup was found, but did not find Ross. Preliminary autopsy results show Ross died of exposure.
