The Waterloo Black Hawks are preparing for game-one of their U-S-H-L Clark Cup Championship Series with Tri-City this Thursday in Nebraska. Waterloo is making its first ever appearance in the Championship series in the franchise’s 25-year history. Tri-City won the Anderson Cup for the best record in the league during the regular season. Waterloo finished fourth in the Eastern Division and upset Chicago and Danville in the playoffs to reach the finals. Waterloo Coach P.K. O’Handley likes playing the role of underdog going into the finals.Forward Joel Hanson, who led the Hawks in scoring during the regular season, feels Waterloo isn’t just happy to be playing in the Championship. He says they have unfinished business and feel they match up well going in. Goalie Kevin Regan, who’s allowed just 12-goals in 8-games, feels Waterloo has a good chance because they’re playing with so much confidence right now. He says they understand that Tri-City is the best team in the league and they need to elevate their play to beat them. The first two games of the best of five series will take place at Tri-City this Thursday and Friday. Game three is scheduled for Tuesday, May 4th at Waterloo.
