Truck driver found dead near Grinnell

May 10, 2004 By admin

A truck driver was found dead inside his cab in central Iowa last night. The Grinnell Police Department received a call from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Sunday night, requesting a welfare check on the driver of a purple-semi truck owned by Swift Trucking. The sheriff’s office had received a call from the company because they hadn’t heard from the diabetic driver since Saturday night, and the truck’s G-P-S placed it near the mile marker 180 rest area on Interstate 80. Grinnell police found the truck on the west-bound exit ramp of the Grinnell exit. The driver inside was dead on arrival. He has been identified as 54-year old Kenneth Henrickle from Ramona, California. His body was transported to Des Moines for an autopsy.
