More than 15-hundred recreational vehicles have made their way to Forest City this week for the 35th annual Winnebago-Itasca Travelers Club Grand National Rally. Club spokesman Denny Burkholder says many people return for the event in northern Iowa every summer. There is musical entertainment, seminars on R-Vs, and contests for R-V drivers — like having a blindfolded driver try to maneuver around cones on a closed course with direction only from their spouse via walkie-talkie. Burkholder says almost every state is represented at the rally each year. He says virtually every state is represented but Hawaii, while R-Vs are coming from many of the Canadian provinces too. Burkholder says they’re always able to bring in top-notch entertainment to the rally. Barbara Fairchild and Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers are headlining the entertainment on the main stage Wednesday and Thursday nights respectively. Burkholder says the club offers many other things for members to do while at the rally.Burkholder says the rally is only open to club members. If you want to join the club, contact your local Winnebago dealer.
