One southwest Iowa town will be boiling hot on this cool summer weekend when some 1300 ears of sweet corn are served tonight (Saturday) in Griswold. The Cass County community will celebrate its 12th annual “Old Tyme Corn Boil” beginning at six P-M. Griswold Police Chief Clarence Waddell says the event draws folks from all over. The corn is gathered in pillow cases and boiled in a large cast-iron caldron. In addition to the corn, more than 180 pounds of pork will be prepared and served in steaming hot roasters. And after musical entertainment in the park, there’ll be carnival rides and games for the kids and a children’s parade beginning at 7:15 P-M. The theme for this year’s parade is “A Salute to the Red, White and Blue.” The night concludes with fireworks at the Griswold High School football field.
