Cass County has a new Attorney to fill an office left vacant by scandal. The Cass County Board of Supervisors announced today 39-year old Dan Feistner, a Republican from Red Oak, will succeed former County Attorney James Barry, who was removed from office last month following a civil trial for maladministration. Feistner who is an Air Force Veteran, graduated from the University of Iowa, and Creighton law School. He served as Defense Attorney for a law firm in Red Oak before starting a private practice there, and he’s currently the acting City Attorney for the Southwestern Iowa communities of Lewis and Villisca. Because of those commitments, he will assume the role of County Attorney Part-time, beginning October 25-th, at an initial annual salary of 60-thousand dollars. Feistner is in the process of relocating his family to Atlantic. Accompanying him will be his wife, Laurie and their 14-year old daughter Leslie and 12-year old son, Stuart.
