Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in a roll-over car crash in Des Moines early this morning that killed a woman and left two people badly hurt. Des Moines Fire Department spokesman Brian O’Keefe explains what happened in the one A.M. southside wreck. The Chevy Cavalier crossed the center line, hit a phone pole and flipped upside down. Two victims were partially trapped in the wreckage when rescue crews arrived. It’s unclear if any of the three people in the car were wearing seat belts. No names have been released. O’Keefe says firefighters smelled alcohol in the wreckage and alerted police. Officers are investigating.
