A ballot screw up in Shelby County could force a revote on a one-cent local option tax vote. An investigation by the auditor’s office revealed that voters in three of the 17 precincts had gotten the wrong ballot. There were two ballots, one for the incorporated areas, and one for the unincoporated areas. The local option tax issue ended up failing by only 52 votes. The Secretary of State’s office says someone would have to contest the election to have another vote on the issue.
