A big show of small artwork is underway in southeast Iowa. Fairfield’s Emerald Gallery is hosting what’s believed to be the largest-ever show of its kind in the region. Some 85 artists from across the country are exhibiting 220 works — all in the format of 12-by-14-inches or smaller. Stacey Hurlin directs Fairfield’s ArtLife Society and says you can get some large deals on the little works of art. She says you can get top-notch art “for a song” from recognized artists that would cost significantly more elsewhere in the U.S. She says that’s one of the advantages of being in the rural Midwest. Hurlin says the art range includes: paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylics and drawings in pencil, pen-and-ink, etcetera. The show opened this morning and the exhibit will run through January 12th.
