A semi crashed this morning near Waukee, leaving semi-sweet chocolate chips strewn across Interstate-80. Jim Bane of the D-O-T’s maintenance office in Atlantic says he dispatched a snow plow to get the chocolate chips off the Interstate. The semi lost control on a slick stretch of highway, struck a guard rail and then spilled part of its load — boxes of chocolate chips. Bane says it’s up to the trucking company to clean up the chocolate that’s now along the side of I-80 — but they’ll wait ’til the storm’s well over before starting that project.
