A western Iowa woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Audubon County. The Iowa State Patrol says 41-year old Wendy K. Kristy, of Exira, was killed when her vehicle collided with a car driven by 43-year old Rhonda Lewis, of Carroll, at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Troopers report Lewis was headed northbound on Pheasant Avenue, northeast of Exira, when her 1996 Dodge drove-off onto the east shoulder of the roadway. Lewis overcorrected and drove into the path of Wendy Kristy’s 2005 Toyota. Kristy — a well known physical therapist and frequent long-distance competitive runner — died at the scene. Lewis was taken to the Audubon County Memorial Hospital, where a report on her condition was not available. The accident remains under investigation.
