UNI players hoping for shot in NFL

April 14, 2005 By admin

The NFL draft will occur later this month and some UNI football players are gathering some interest. Panther coach Mark Farley says several Panthers have worked out for NFL scouts and have left favorable impressions. He feels quarterback Tom Petrie has improved his stock with some solid workouts in the UNI-Dome. Farley says he got many calls after the workout and has the potential to be a late round pick, or will make it to someone’s camp. Farley thinks that offensive lineman Luke Stigler has an outside chance to be a late draft pick. Stigler is up to 315 pounds and Farley says he’ll make people take a look when he gets into a camp. Farley also thinks tight end Andy Thorn and linebacker Danny Tripplet have a strong chance of being invited to a NFL camp if they’re not chosen in the draft. The NFL draft is set for April 22nd in New York.
