McCarney says he’ll talk with Berryman after jail

April 15, 2005 By admin

Former Iowa State football player Jason Berryman is to be released from jail Monday after serving a 258-day jail term for assaulting two Iowa State students last August. Berryman pleaded guilty to charges of theft and assault causing injury in October and was sentenced to 300-days in jail. He received a 42-day reduction of his sentence for good behavior. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney would not comment of Berryman’s future with the team. McCarney says they will sit down and talk next week, but other than that, he won’t say anything about Berryman.Berryman was named the Big-12 Conference Defensive newcomer of the year as a freshman.
