Maytag recalls 80 production workers in Newton

May 4, 2005 By admin

Several dozen central Iowans who’d been let go from their factory jobs are being called back. About 80 laid off production workers at Maytag in Newton will be going back to work next week. Union leaders say Maytag is recalling the employees due to production increases on the front-loading Neptune washer. Once the workers are back on the job, the production workforce in Newton will be just over one-thousand-330.
