A northwest Iowa boy was badly hurt in a basement blast. A rural Cherokee County boy was hurt in an explosion at his home Tuesday night. The sheriff’s office says 16-year-old Jonathan DeYoung of Quimby was in the cellar and lit gunpowder on fire, causing an explosion. DeYoung was airlifted to a Sioux City hospital. His condition has not been released.
