Des Moines motorcyclist dies after hitting deer

May 6, 2005 By admin

The Des Moines-area motorcyclist who was killed in a chain-reaction accident has been identified. Charles Berger, of Altoona, hit a deer on Highway 141 last night west of Perry. After being thrown from his motorcycle, witnesses say Berger was hit by a pickup truck and then by a car. The pickup didn’t stop and investigators only know that it was red. The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital, suffering from emotional trauma. Charges will likely be filed when investigators find the driver of the truck.
