Drake and UNI meet in key softball game

Drake hosts UNI beginning Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference softball series with a spot in the six-team Valley tournament. UNI is currently seventh in the league race with a record of 9-15 and the Panthers need a sweep of the three game series to get in. Drake is fifth in the league race with a record of 12-12.Drake coach Rich Calvert says all they have to do is take care of winning one game and hey’re in. Calvert says the Bulldogs have battled through a roller coaster season. He says they had some high expectations, but haven’t reached those expectations for various reasons. But he says they still have a lot to accomplish.The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday.
