The Briar Cliff baseball team is peaking at the right time and the Chargers now stand just two victories away from a trip to the NAIA World Series. Briar Cliff downed Bellevue University 11-5 on Sunday to win the region four title and they will host Dakota State in a best-of-three super regional beginning Thursday.Coach Boyd Pitkin says they got hot with the bats at the right time. He says they also had good pitching. The Chargers hit the ball so well that during the region tournament they averaged nearly 12-runs per game. He says players and teams can go through hot streaks and slumps and this time they were going through a hot streak.Pitkin says a tough early schedule helped the Chargers get better. He says that’s the only way to get better as a team. Briar Cliff is 36-20 on the season.
