Two brothers are each facing 25 years in prison for their roles in the fatal shooting of a woman at an after-hours party in Waterloo last fall. 18-year-old Dorondis Cooper and 27-year-old Damean Spates were sentenced in Black Hawk County District Court on Tuesday. The Waterloo brothers were initially charged with first-degree murder in the death of Thyanna Parsons last October, but both pled guilty to lesser charges in a deal with the state. The shooting happened at a house while people were standing outside during a party. Parsons was inside the home and was hit by a bullet. Seven people were charged in her death.
