Northern IA man waits 20 hours in ditch after bike crash

June 6, 2005 By admin

A Forest City man is recovering from a bad weekend motorcycle crash — and from waiting for help for 20 hours/Relatives of Fred Follman called the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Sunday afternoon at 1:45 PM, indicating they had not seen him since 6 PM Saturday evening. At that time, Follman had left home on his motorcycle and was traveling west on county road A-42. Five minutes after the initial phone call, a family member made a second call requesting ambulance services. From their search of the local roadways, the family had located Follman in a ditch past a set of curves on the county road. The Forest City ambulance service transported Follman to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa were he is listed in critical condition. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
