Two die after boat capsizes in Decatur County

Two lives were lost in a weekend boating mishap in south-central Iowa. Two men drowned early Sunday morning at Little River Lake in Decatur County when the small rowboat they were in capsized. Bodies of the two victims were recovered Sunday after sunrise. There were three men in the boat at the time of the incident with 19-year-old Josh Jackson of Van Wert being able to swim to shore after the boat capsized. The dead men have been identified as 18-year-old Brad Phillips and 20-year-old Todd Pontier, both of Osceola. The boat was reportedly in poor condition with no life jackets or flotation devices on board went down in approximately 15 feet of water on the east side of the lake.
