Drake renovation off to good start

June 21, 2005 By admin

Drake University athletic director Dave Blank says so far so good on renovations to Drake Stadium. The process is less than a month old but the time-frame is tight because work needs to be completed by the 2006 Drake Relays, which have been held in the stadium since 1926. Blank says they’ve only had half a day where they lost the ability to work, otherwise it’s been sunny and warm.Blank says work is proceeding in a number of areas including the drainage system. He says once they have the drainage done, they’ll bring the dirt back in and bring it up to grade. Blank says besides the weather the only other thing that could slow the process is if they dig up something they don’t want to. He says they did run into a gas line that wasn’t where they thought it was.
