Heavy rain causes flooding in Webster City

June 27, 2005 By admin

Heavy weekend rains pushed a couple of north-central Iowa rivers out of their banks. Webster City got nearly four inches of rain, prompting a flood warning for the Boone River in Webster City and the Des Moines River in Stratford. Last night, the Boone was at 12-point-6 feet with flood stage at 10 feet. Barricades are up in some areas due to the flooding and a Webster City campground was evacuated. The Des Moines River at Stratford measured 19-point-8 feet last night, with flood stage at 14 feet. The river’s expected to crest at 21 feet this afternoon, creeping below flood stage on Wednesday.
