Body of missing Denison woman found

July 8, 2005 By admin

A tragic ending to a missing-persons case in northwest Iowa. Thursday afternoon searchers recovered the body of 59-year-old Cecilia Hayward of Denison, in a field in the northwest part of town. Hayward was last seen Sunday afternoon, but wasn’t reported missing till yesterday morning. Denison Police Chief Rod Bradley says Hayward’s body was found early Thursday afternoon by the search teams, lying in the field. It looked like a natural death, though the body was sent to the county medical examiner for an autopsy. The woman was described as both physically and mentally handicapped, which may have been contributing factors in her death.
