A major upset highlighted last night’s high school softball tournament action in class 3A. Behind the pitching of sophomore Alyssa Hannasch, Oelwein stunned tenth ranked Waukon 5-2 in a regional quarterfinal Wednesday night. The Huskies entered the game with a record of 7-29. Oelwein head coach Carrie Crawford says Hannasch did and excellent job. Hannasch struck out 10 batters, and gave up two runs on four hits. A four run third inning by Oelwein would prove to be enough. After adding one more insurance run in the 5th. Waukon ends the season 33-8. Next up for the Huskies is New Hampton. Oelwein defeated New Hampton 4 -3 last week in the final regular season game. they play Saturday at 7 p.m. in Waukon.
