Des Moines man charged with intentionally crashing, killing ex-girlfriend

August 4, 2005 By admin

A Des Moines man is charged with killing an ex-girlfriend by allegedly wrecking her car early this (Thursday) morning. At first, it looked like a typical traffic crash — a small car was wrapped around a tree in a residential Des Moines neighborhood. But police quickly determined the crushed car had been hit from behind by a pickup truck that had fled the scene. Witnesses say the pickup was intentionally ramming the car. The woman who’d been driving the car was dead — 34-year-old Darcie Scott. Police now say her ex-boyfriend, 44-year-old Raymond Miller, was taken into custody a short time after the crash. They allege it was his pickup that forced Scott off the road. Miller is charged with homicide by vehicle, drunk driving and other charges. If convicted on all counts, he could face at least 25 years in prison.
