Fire hits Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center

Fire struck an important building in downtown Sioux City late Wednesday.A smoky fire at the Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center last night forced the evacuation of jail inmates. The fire started in a laundry room about 9 P.M. and a sprinkler system put it out. Prisoners were evacuated to another secure facility and no one was hurt. The fire was confined to the second floor. Damage is described as minor. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
