Fire Marshal rules on cause of explosion at Lanesboro elevator

August 24, 2005 By admin

The state fire marshal’s issued an opinion about what caused a grain-elevator explosion in Carroll County this week. On Monday, residents of Lanesboro were shaken when an explosion rocked the farmers co-op elevator. Investigation by the state fire marshal’s office revealed the explosion was an accident, apparently caused by an elevator employee who was doing repairs with a welding torch on top of the structure. No injuries were reported. Coop officials hope to have the elevator repaired and ready for use again by harvest time this fall.
