Grand jury hears testimony in Evelyn Miller case

September 9, 2005 By admin

A federal grand jury has been meeting in Cedar Rapids this week to hear testimony in the murder case of a five-year-old Floyd County girl. Evelyn Miller’s uncle Jeremiah Christie has told a Des Moines television station that he was served a subpoena earlier this week and was scheduled to testify yesterday in Cedar Rapids. A grand jury would meet to decide whether or not there is enough evidence to indict anyone in an investigation. Miller disappeared from her mother’s rural Floyd home on July 1st, being found six days later in the Cedar River. Authorities ruled the cause of Evelyn’s death as homicide, but have not released any details about how she was murdered. Investigators last week executed a search warrant at the home of Evelyn’s mother Noel and her fiancé Casey Frederickson, seizing a computer and other evidence from the residence.
