October 24, 2005 By admin

Waterloo police continue to investigate a three-vehicle accident that killed a central Iowa couple and injured five others over the weekend. Authorities have identified the victim’s of Saturday’s crash as 84-year-old Floyd Byrne and his 78-year-old wife Katherine, both of Fort Dodge. Police say the Byrnes’ daughter — Jane Lundberg of Fort Dodge — and two small children were the other occupants of the vehicle. They were all treated at a Waterloo hospital and later released. Preliminary police reports indicate that the car driven by Floyd Byrne was northbound on U.S. Highway 63 and turned into the path of a pickup. The pickup’s occupants, Wesley and Jeanette Sebetka, both of Malcolm, were slightly injured. The driver of the third vehicle, Jimmy Scott of Cedar Falls, escaped injury. Police haven’t indicated how Scott’s vehicle was involved. Officials say the crash remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
