Two killed in crashes in Northwest Iowa

October 26, 2005 By admin

Two people were killed in two separate crashes Tuesday in northwest Iowa. A Sioux Falls, South Dakota, man is dead after crashing his semi south of Spencer. The Iowa State Patrol says 55-year-old Charles Sundermeyer was southbound on Highway 71 when he drifted into the ditch. His semi crossed a gravel road, entered a grove of trees and jack-knifed. Sundermeyer was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:45 Tuesday evening. Troopers are still investigating the accident. Meanwhile, a two vehicle accident in Pocahontas County claims the life of a local woman. Sheriff Bob Lampe says a mini-van driven by 48-year old Teresa Harvey of Pocahontas crossed the centerline on Highway 4 and collided with a semi driven by Marcus Miller of Whittemore. Harvey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pocahontas County coroner. Miller wasn’t hurt. The accident occured just before Noon Tuesday near the intersection of Highways 4 and 10. Lampe says the fatal crash remains under investigation.Brent Palm, KICD, Spencer
