U-N-I and Drake continue tough MVC schedule

January 4, 2006 By admin

The U-N-I Panthers face a difficult road trip this week in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Panthers are 2-1 in the MVC and visit Wichita State tomorrow night and follow that up with a trip to Missouri State this weekend.

U-N-I coach Greg McDermott says anytime you can win on the road, it’s huge. McDermott says they’ve been in a tough stretch and they just have to try and get their legs back.

Drake will be at home tomorrow night against Bradley on Thursday night. The Bulldogs have dropped two straight games in the Valley race after opening with a victory at Evansville.

Drake coach Tom Davis says it’s a tough league and they’re paying the price for it. Davis says senior Chaun Brooks has provided leadership for a young team. He says Brooks has done all he can to help the new and old players meld together. Davis says he hopes the team will improve alot over the next couple of weeks.
Drake is 8-6 overall.
