More charges filed in death of Iowa woman’s baby

February 16, 2006 By admin

More charges are being filed in the death of an Alcester, South Dakota, baby, whose body was found in a landfill last year. The child’s father, Paul Lundberg of Alcester, was indicted yesterday by a grand jury in Union County, South Dakota. Lundberg is charged with four counts of accessory to a felony.

Prosecutors allege Lundberg knew or had after-the-fact knowledge that Lori Schultz was going to kill the baby. Schultz, who lives in rural Merrill, Iowa, is the newborn’s mother and admitted to putting him in a garbage can last February. The 21-year-old Schultz pled guilty last month to second-degree manslaughter. She could get ten years in prison when she’s sentenced February 28th. Lundberg was arrested yesterday after the indictment was issued. His bond is set at 20-thousand dollars.
