Northwest Iowa man found guilty in jogger’s death

March 28, 2006 By admin

A jury in Plymouth County took less than an hour this (Tuesday) morning to convict a northwest Iowa man in the hit-and-run death of a jogger nearly two years ago. A rural Chatsworth man was found guilty on all three counts in the death of Joan Wilson of rural LeMars in May of 2004.

Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Heien was charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and leaving the scene of an injury accident. The jury received the case about 10-30 this (Tuesday) morning, and returned later than an hour later with the guilty verdict. Plymouth County District Judge John Ackerman says he’ll be sentenced in about six weeks.
