Davenport man shot after fireworks fight

July 5, 2006 By admin

A 25-year-old Davenport man was shot in the groin area during a fight about fireworks. Davenport cops say the fight began when someone threw fireworks at another person. The two involved had it out, then one of the men left — only to return later with a small group of backers. According to the police report, one of the people in that group had a gun and fired it into the air, then fired the gun into the crowd.

The shot struck 25-year-old Dennis Stewart in the groin. He was taken to the hospital, but officers say his injury isn’t life threatening. Cops say they tracked down the shooter and 20-year-old Anthony Spraggins of Davenport has been charged with going armed with intent and assault while participating in a felony.

Cops found Stewart hiding in a house where they also found what the police report describes as a “considerable quantity” of marijuana. So, they also arrested 22-year-old Raven Cornelius Miller and charged him with hosting a drug house, possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Both Miller and Spraggins are being held in the Scott County Jail.
