Waterloo police make drug arrest during murder investigation

July 11, 2006 By admin

Waterloo police have released the results of an autopsy on the victim of a fatal shooting at a Waterloo bar Sunday night. The state medical examiner has ruled the death of 27-year-old Tonyeah Jackson of Waterloo a homicide by gunshot wounds. Jackson was shot Sunday night at Club Crystyles.

Police have not yet named a suspect in the case, however they did make a drug arrest while investigating the murder. Waterloo police were at a home early Monday conducting a followup investigation into the shooting death of Jackson when they discovered a quantity of crack cocaine during a search.

The resident of the home, 19-year-old Jeffrey Smith turned himself in at the Black Hawk County Jail. Smith is charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine.
