Waterloo Police find body in Cedar River

October 6, 2006 By admin

An investigation is underway after rescue crews pulled a body out of the Cedar River in Waterloo. Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim. Rescue crews were called to Cedar River Park around 8 A.M. Thursday after someone found blood, a gun and a person’s belongings near the river bank. Officials searched the river for about 15 minutes before finding a man’s body.

Authorities say the man died of a gunshot wound, which they believe may have been self-inflicted. The body has been sent to Des Moines for an autopsy. A police spokesman says a pick-up truck parked in the area was also impounded as part of the investigation.
