Two Eastern Iowa schools practice lock downs

October 10, 2006 By admin

The recent school shootings across the country have prompted some eastern Iowa schools to take action. Two school districts will be conducting lock down drills this week. A lock down practice will be held today at the West Central Schools in Maynard at one p.m.

On Thursday, a similar drill will take place in the Oelwein Community School District at 10 A.M. The drills are designed to provide the public awareness that the schools do have emergency plans for such events and practice for them. School administrators say they’ll analyze the drills and make adjustments for any problems they encounter.
