Drake opens season in Alaska

November 17, 2006 By admin

The Drake men’s basketball team opens the season Friday night in Fairbanks Alaska in the Top of the World Classic against Southeast Missouri State. As he begins his fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs, Coach Tom Davis has an experienced team that includes five seniors and five juniors. Davis says the players have experience, but haven’t won. Now he says they need to see if they can put it together on the court.

Davis says winning an early season tournament would give the Bulldogs a boost. He says when you win three games in a row, it gives the players a sense of confidence and lets them feel they can contend. Davis says Drake needs that feeling based on their history. Drake will play either Centenary or Utah State in the second round.
