Deadline approaching for Keep Iowa Beautiful grants

December 25, 2006 By admin

The deadline is fast approaching to get your applications in for the Keep Iowa Beautiful grants. Kathy Ridnour of the Iowa Department of Transportation, says any non-profit group can apply for the grant.

Ridnour says the maximum grant is five-thousand dollars and so far the average awards have been about 27-hundred dollars. Ridnour says all you have to do is submit a plan for a community project.

Ridnour says a community project could be litter removal, litter prevention, education and public awareness. Also they could do a beautification project, something related to recycling or public nuisance abatement. Ridnour says program is designed to make Iowa a better place.

Ridnour says they want to improve the beauty of the state and hope things will spread from town to town as the projects develop. Ridnour says the deadline to apply is January 2nd. Ridnour says you can get forms by calling 515-239-1713, or by going to the D-O-T website at www.iowadot.gov/forms. Ridnour says no matching funds are required for the grants.
