ISU looks to go 2-0 in Big 12

January 10, 2007 By admin

The Iowa State Cyclones look to go 2-0 in the Big-12 when they host Nebraska tonight in Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones opened the league race with a last second victory at Missouri. Nebraska is 11-3 and led by center Aleks Maric who is averaging 18 points and over seven rebounds per game. He had a career high 37 against Iowa State last season.

ISU coach Greg McDermott says Maric is as good a front line player as they’re going to see and Maric can score in a lot of ways. McDermott says they can’t afford to focus on one player though as he has plenty of help. McDermott says the Huskers whole group of guards has had some big games for them, and they gives them enough weapons to be able to hurt you from a lot of spots.

McDermott says it will take a variety of defenses to slow Maric down. He says they just want to bring pressure from a lot of different directions to try and keep him off balance offensively.

The Cyclones are 10-5 overall.
