Council Bluffs man pleads to assault, murder charge ahead

January 23, 2007 By admin

A Council Bluffs man accused of murdering his wife appeared in a Pottawattamie County Courtroom this morning.County Attorney Matt Wilber says Stan Tribble was sentenced for an earlier domestic abuse charge.

He was charged with simple domestic-abuse assault, in an incident that happened before Tracy Tribble disappeared last May. The prosecutor says Tribble pleaded guilty and was sentenced to thirty days in jail.

Wilber says today’s conviction is just the beginning for his office. "This is a huge case for us to deal with," says Wilber, "with a lot of attention." His office is already planning depositions this week for the trial, which is scheduled to start in May.

Tracy Gostomsky-Tribble had complained of being abused by her husband even before the charge that was settled with today’s plea, and she disappeared last spring. Her body was found in the Missouri River two weeks later.
