Washers recalled over electrical problems

March 21, 2007 By admin

Several thousand washers are being recalled. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the washers made by Samsung of South Korea are being voluntarily recalled and owners should stop using them immediately. The recall involves some 250,000 Maytag, and 20,000 Samsung brand front-load washers.

The Maytag washers have model numbers beginning with M-A-H 9700 or M-A-H 8700. The Samsung model number W-F -306-B-H-W or a model number beginning with W-F-316. The washers were sold throughout the country from April 2005 through August 2006.

The commission says water could leak into the electrical connections of the washing machine’s thermal sensor and lead to an electrical short, starting a fire in the circuit board. Maytag has had five reports of circuit board fires and Samsung one. No injuries or damage outside the washing machines have been reported.

For more details on the exact model numbers, call Maytag at: 800-868-5109. Contact Samsung at:800-515-7902 Or you can surf to: www.washerrecall.com , or www.samsung.com/washerrecall .
