Boy dies after being shot with pellet gun

March 30, 2007 By admin

An eastern Iowa boy died Thursday after an accidental shooting on Wednesday in southern Clinton County.

Seven-year-old Blake Hargrave of Low Moor had been shot in the eye with a pellet gun. He was transported to the Genesis Hospital in DeWitt and then to Genesis Hospital in Davenport and then to University Hospital in Iowa City where he was pronounced dead on Thursday.

The Clinton County Sherriff’s office says the boy had been hunting rabbits with an older sibling and the sibling’s friend and the boys were shooting near a junked car with the incident occurred. The identity of the other two boys and further details about the incident are not being released yet, pending completion of the investigation.

Camanche School Tom Parker said that extra counselors and support personnel were brought into the elementary school on Thursday to work with the students.
