ISU on final week of spring football practice

April 9, 2007 By admin

The Iowa State football team enters the final week of spring drills after a scrimmage on Saturday. It is a time when the players can get accustomed to the new coaching staff and style of play. Coach Gene Chizik says it is also a time when the leadership begins to emerge.

Chizik says leadership is an action not a position, so you can’t appoint someone to it. He says you become a leader by earning everyone’s respect. Chizik says some leaders are starting to emerge.

The Cyclones close out spring practice this Saturday. Chizik says they have work to get done, even though they’re opening things up for a scrimmage. Chizik says they haven’t decided on the format for the day yet, as that will depend on the injuries and players available.
