Competition is underway in Iowa Games

July 12, 2007 By admin

Competition is underway at the Summer Iowa Games . It is the first of two weekends of competition in Ames and executive director Jim Hallihan says even if your are not registered for a sport you can still take part. Sixteen of the 56 sports offered by the Iowa Games offer on-site registration.

Hallihan says you need to go on-line and find out that time you need to be there to sign up. Hallihan says this is the biggest of the two weekends for the event, with most of the sports. He expects 12 to 14,000 people this weekend, and then 2,000 next weekend.

The torch run is Friday and the day will conclude with the opening ceremonies in Jack Trice Stadium. There’ll be fireworks and other entertainment on the field. There’s also the finals fest that includes things like a climbing wall and inflatables. The opening ceremonies are free.
