August 2, 2007 By admin

Second ranked Akron-Westfield pounded out 18 hits and score four times in the first in a 15-5 win over Carroll Kuemper in the opening round of the Class 2A state softball tournament.. The combined 20 runs is a 2A tournament record and it marked the 27th time the Westerner’s scored eight runs or more in a game.

Fifth rated Adel-DeSoto-Minburn score three times in the top of the first and got a four hitter from junior pitcher Nicole Ackelson to down Cedar Rapids Xavier 6-2.
ADM coach Michelle Fowler says scoring three runs to start the game was a big confidence boost.

Junior outfielder Chelsea Cave had three RBIs, including a solo homer in the 6th as top ranked Harlan downed Chariton 4-1 in class 3A. Cave also had a two run single in the first as Harlan jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage.
